The 2014 Betjeman Lecture by Simon Thurley.
The 2014 Betjeman Lecture by Simon Thurley, the distinguished architectural historian and Head of English Heritage, is on November 26 in the theatre of the Arts Educational Trust.
His talk is entitled 'Amazing the World: The place of Bedford Park in English Architecture'
In a recent analysis Simon Thurley, the Head of English Heritage picked 10 buildings which have 'changed the face of the country'.
Information Sign Ceremony on June 21 at 11.00
The ceremony of the handing-over of the new Information Sign erected by the Bedford Park Society will be held on the triangle of land in front of St Michael and All Angels church hall at 11.00am on June 21st.
The Society’s president Nigel Woolner and deputy chairman Peter Murray, who jointly masterminded the project, and Cecilia Powell, daughter of one of the donors, will ask Cllr Steve Curran, leader of Hounslow Council, to accept responsibility for the care and upkeep of the sign.
We hope that many members of the Bedford Park Society will be able to attend this ceremony. It will be followed by a short reception in the church hall.
The 2014 AGM is on 15 May
The 2014 Annual General Meeting of the Bedford Park Society will be held on 15 May, 2014 in St. Michael and All Angels Parish Hall.
The 2014 Winter Party is on Friday 24 January

2013 Betjeman Lecture - 30 October
The speaker in this year's John Betjeman lecture will be Clem Cecil, director of SAVE Britain's Heritage, an important independent voice in conservation, speaking out for the historic environment in Britain and Europe. Clem will talk about her work in SAVE's high profile campaigns.
June 10 event. Talking about the Society
The 50th anniversary of the founding of the Bedford Park Society will be marked at a Bedford Park Festival event in St Michael and All Angels parish hall on June 10 at 7.30. Nigel Woolner, the Society's President will look back on battles to save the heritage of Bedford Park. John Rowe will talk about Sir John Betjeman's contribution. Poet Cahal Dallat will describe the early artistic community. John Scott wil talk about the architecture. Publication of a visual history of Bedford Park
Entitled Bedford Park Pictures from the Past this is a compilation of photographs, drawings, paintings and postcards dating from the earliest days of the garden suburb to the mid 20th century. Assembled by Bedford Park Society Committee members David Budworth and Sandra Grant, the book shows buildings, street scenes and interiors as well as some early residents.
New book on Bedford Park
Years of research have gone into a book about Jonathan Carr and the development of Bedford Park; Jonathan Carr’s Bedford Park by Dr David Budworth MBE, a local historian and Society committee member, was launched The book shows that the Bedford Park Carr built was rather more extensive than the area nowadays associated with him.
Front Garden Competition 2012
The winner of this year's Bedford Park Front Gardens Competition is 5, Queen Anne's Grove owned by Chris O'Hare and Iain Renwick. The competition formed part of national Civic Day.
